Solano College winds down 2012 bond-money projects

The vice president of finance and other Solano Community College administrators are living out of boxes these days now that Building 600 is closed. They moved to 360 Campus Lane, into new temporary digs, while their usual home was gutted, abated and renovated.

The $6 million project is one of the last major projects using bond money from the 2002 passage of Measure G.  The administration building (Building 600),  has been around since the early 1970s, had seen better days, with its small boardroom and primitive sound system.

Kitchell is providing construction management services for the Solano Community College project.

Kitchell achieves perfect safety record at San Bernardino Community College District

The San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) received the Outstanding Safety Performance Award for the San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) Central Plant and Infrastructure Project from The Statewide Educational Wrap-Up Program (SEWUP) Joint Powers Authority Board of Directors, a comprehensive owner-controlled insurance program that covers SBCCD as the owner as well as the general contractors on the project.

There were no workers compensation claims and no general liability losses throughout the 13 months of the project. More than 50 workers were involved in the project. Kitchell served as the construction manager for the project.
