Kitchell begins Casino Arizona expansion

PHOENIX (April 4, 2012) –Kitchell is the construction firm of record for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community’s addition of a bingo hall to its Casino Arizona at the 101 and McKellips Road in Scottsdale.

The 26,000 square-foot addition marks a return to bingo for the Tribe, which operates another casino further north on the 101, the recently-opened Talking Stick Resort & Spa, adjacent to the also recently developed spring training facility Salt River Fields.

Construction is scheduled to conclude October 2012.

Tucson-based Seaver Franks Architects AIA designed the new addition. The multi-use room will primarily be used for bingo, but can also be used for large events. The room will accommodate 1,000.

“As an independently owned and operated enterprise, it is essential that Casino Arizona chose the right partners to execute this type of project,” said Casino Arizona Director of Public Relations Ramon Martinez. “Seaver Franks Architects and Kitchell see our vision and I am confident that they can carry it out.”

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community is a sovereign tribe located in the metropolitan Phoenix area. Bounded by the cities of Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa and Fountain Hills, the Community encompasses 52,600 acres, with 19,000 held as a natural preserve. With two distinct backgrounds and cultures, the Community is comprised of two Native American tribes: the Pima, “Akimel O’Odham” (River People) and the Maricopa, “Xalychidom Piipaash” (People who live toward the water).
